How to Quickly and Easily Descale Your Nespresso Coffee Machine
Why Descale Your Nespresso Machine?
Your Nespresso machine needs regular descaling to remove mineral buildup. This buildup can affect the taste of your coffee, clog the machine, and reduce its lifespan. Descaling your machine every 3-6 months, or more often if you live in a hard water area, will help keep it running smoothly and producing delicious coffee.
What You'll Need
- Nespresso descaling solution
- Water
- Container
Step-by-Step Descaling Instructions
1. Fill the Water Tank with Descaling Solution
Empty the water tank and fill it with the Nespresso descaling solution. Add water to the fill line.
2. Place a Container Under the Coffee Outlet
Place a large container under the coffee outlet to catch the descaling solution as it flows through the machine.
3. Start the Descaling Cycle
Press and hold the lungo and espresso buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The descaling cycle will begin.
4. Run the Descaling Solution Through the Machine
The machine will run the descaling solution through the system for about 15 minutes. During this time, the machine may make some noise and vibrate.
5. Rinse the Machine
Once the descaling cycle is complete, empty the container and rinse the water tank thoroughly. Fill the tank with fresh water and run the machine through 2-3 brewing cycles to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
Tips
- Use only Nespresso descaling solution. Other descaling solutions may damage your machine.
- Descaling your machine regularly will help prevent mineral buildup and keep it running smoothly.
- If you live in a hard water area, you may need to descale your machine more often.
